Scoliosis is truly a heart wrenching problem since it afflicts children and adolescents. Nobody wants to see their children’s childhood ruined because he or she must now wear a brace or get surgery. Even so, these are the only two methods of scoliosis cure. A brace will stop the spine from curving, and if worn throughout the child’s development, they may not require surgery when they become mature. The brace must be worn 16 to 23 hours a day however. It is hot and will make the child uncomfortable. Sadly, it must be worn if the child hopes to escape surgery. Surgery is the only properly documented scoliosis cure. It involves straitening the back using steel rods and screws. It is an extreme procedure, but is needed if the curvature of the spine is over 40 degrees.

Alternative methods

Are there alternative methods of scoliosis cure? Many people would love to prevent their children from having to undergo surgery, especially since there are numerous risks involved with spinal surgery as it is still unperfected. The important thing to do is always follow your doctor’s advice. However, if your child’s scoliosis is not so bad the he or she has to get surgery yet, there are ways that you can treat it and hopefully stop the spine form curving to the point where surgery is needed. These methods involve exercises, physical therapy, nutrition improvement, and chiropractic adjustment. Once adulthood is reached, there is really no fear of the spine curving too much more if it’s been taken care of. These natural methods can still be used to alleviate any discomfort as a result of the condition as well as possibly reverse the condition.

Chiropractic care

There are, in fact, chiropractors who are specialists in the field of scoliosis and claim to have developed their own scoliosis cure. They incorporate any means necessary to prevent the spine from curving further, correcting it if possible. Like regular physicians, they will ask your child to wear a brace as well, but they seek to shorten recovery time by adjusting the spine. These doctors claim that the nervous system is responsible for everything in the body either directly or indirectly. When the spine begins to curve, the vertebrae and discs will put pressure on the spinal nerves; therefore, scoliosis affects the entire body. The chiropractor seeks to move the vertebrae back into the position which will take the pressure of the spinal nerves. The brace helps to keep them in place and keep the spine in alignment, helping to reverse the curvature of the spine.
