Relief For Knee Injuries
There may come a time in any person's life when they need relief for knee injuries. After all, knee injuries can happen during any kind of daily activity, not just when playing a sport. Chiropractors can often perform spinal adjustments and offer other treatment options to give you relief from knee injury pain.
Knee injuries can be difficult to diagnose without the proper scanning equipment. There are different situations which lead to different types of injury, so your chiropractor will probably ask for a complete history of the accident, and of your fitness level leading into the incident. He will probably ask if you heard a pop or felt any sensations when the injury occurred. Once he has all of the details, the chiropractor will probably order an x-ray and an MRI to reveal any damage to soft tissues around the knee area.
Traumatic activities such as jumping, running or falling are usually the cause of a severe injury to the knee. It is as if you had a rubber band stretched it beyond the point of elasticity until it snapped. The same thing can happen to the ligaments and muscles that hold the knee joint together. There can also be misalignments in the spinal column that cause instability in the hips, legs, and knees. Chiropractors can perform adjustments and show you home exercises to reduce these imbalances.
If you have injured your knee, you will notice pain and swelling almost immediately. Try to keep the joint stable and apply ice for 10 minutes on and 10 minutes off. Contact your doctor or chiropractic as soon as possible to have the injury examined. Do not be tempted to take pain medication to mask symptoms as this can result in further injury to the area. While surgery will usually fix the problem, it is not always the best option because of the risk. You may wish to go to a chiropractor instead because they will correct the problem without any unnecessary surgery.
When a knee injury occurs, it is usually because the cartilage was torn or became frayed in some places. Recent studies show that non-surgical treatment options may provide the same relief for knee injuries, especially considering the additional risks involved with having surgery. Arthroscopic surgery may be available that can correct the injury with a less invasive procedure. This may only require a local anesthetic rather than a general anesthetic, further reducing the risk.
