Chiropractors and Subluxation Correction

A subluxation is a partial or complete dislocation of a bone joint and its correction is one of the primary focuses of chiropractors. In fact, the definition of the word chiropractic is the science of locating and treating interference in nerve force by correcting these subluxations in the bones or other nearby structures, especially the pelvis, neck, and back in order to promote good health. If you are to understand how a chiropractor can help you, it is important that you understand the science behind how the human body works.

Chiropractors believe that the body knows how to keep us healthy based on what they call innate intelligence. This power controls the heart rate, breathing, digestion, and every other function of the body that is crucial to its survival. The brain sends messages throughout the body through the spinal cord and these messages are sent to every organ of the body. Naturally, the organs receive these messages and follow them resulting in a healthy body. In some circumstances however, there may be interference in the delivery of these messages and in this case the organs will not function properly and you will not experience perfect health as a result. Seeing a chiropractor can help you to correct the problem that is causing the transference.

These messages that go to and from the brain are actually electronic impulses that travel along the spinal cord from the bottom of the skull all the way down the back. The spinal column, a tunnel of interlocking bones, seeks to protect the spinal cord. Chiropractors can manipulate these bones in your neck and back in order to alleviate pain by use of a number of methods. Each of these methods, however, aims to achieve the same result: the complete correction of subluxations. There are different types of subluxations which a chiropractor can treat including: Kinesiopathology, Neurophysiology, Myopathology, Histopathology, and Pathophysiology.

Chiropractors must learn how to detect and correct these subluxations which is a large part of their education in the subject. The Chiropractor must learn how to analyze the improper placement of the bones and how to correct them so that the nerves can properly resume their course and the instructions that they carry can begin to flow throughout the body again. This is mainly accomplished by the various adjustment techniques that they maintain at their disposal. When you are free of these subluxations you will find that you are less stressful as your nervous system is once again functioning properly.
