Chiropractic is a natural and proven method of relieving back pain, increasing vitality, and promoting a general sense of well-being. Chiropractic doctors have been practicing their art for over a hundred years now. It has in fact become the United States most popular drug-free noninvasive treatment. The body has natural methods of healing itself, but this ability depends on a healthy nervous system in order to operate. Injuries that happen to us throughout our lifetime such as car accidents, sports injuries, everyday work, and even day to day stress can harm the body’s ability to restore itself naturally. When these events occur, it causes the joints in our spine to lock up which limits our range of motion. This can cause misalignment or joint restriction which puts pressure on the spine.

Chiropractic adjustments can correct these problems, which are known as subluxations in chiropractic vernacular, and restore the body to its full function and natural form once again. Subluxations can create a number of unpleasant symptoms including: pain, tenderness, tingling or spasm around the joints of the spine, numbness, and swelling of the back and neck. Subluxations can lead to a whole number of other disorders including an upset stomach and headaches. The whole body can suffer due to this impaired nerve function. Messages from the brain travel up and down the spinal cord, going to each organ and giving instructions. When this method of transportation is cut off due to a subluxation, the organs will not be able to function properly. The goal of chiropractic care is to keep these messages flowing properly and maintaining the overall health of the patient.

Chiropractors are specially trained in how to locate and correct these subluxations and they do so by using various techniques which they’ve studied throughout their careers. Hospitals and other institutions are becoming more accepting of chiropractic care and general physicians are working together with them more than ever before. Chiropractic care has proven to do much more than simply alleviate joint and back pain, although this is its primary focus. In fact it has been proven to be an effective treatment for headaches, carpel tunnel, sciatica, jaw pain, and tingling in the joints. Chiropractic care is recommended for anyone because neck and joint pain affects everyone. People of all ages have shown significant results from having chiropractic adjustments performed. For your first visit, expect to have an evaluation performed so that the chiropractor can treat you with optimal care. He will also have you answer some questions about your health background and about the symptoms you are experiencing.
