Causes of Lower Back Ache

Lower back ache is one of the biggest causes of back pain in the nation; nearly everyone has experienced some form of lower back pain. Some forms of lower back ache are small and minute, while other forms of lower backache are long, and require special forms of treatment. Either way, there are multiple causes of low back ache, and trying to figure them out is the most important thing to do when considering treatment for lower back aches and pains.

First, it is important to understand how the lower back works and what its purpose is, as the causes of lower back ache will become more obvious with this knowledge. The lower back actually holds a majority of the weight in our body as we stand and move; the lower back is involved in nearly every form of movement of the entire body. Many of the causes of lower back ache have been caused by issues with heavy lifting.

There are many different causes to low back ache, but one of the major ones deals with this type of heavy lifting and strain. Lumbar strains are the most common cause of low back ache by far, as it is the strain of the muscles and ligaments that are in the lumbar (lower back). Heavy lifting, or incorrect lifting, can cause this strain. This strain can happen to anyone, and to people of all ages.

There are other causes of lower back ache, however. When the nerves of the lower back become irritated (by movement or strain) they can cause lower back pain. When bones or joints become inflamed, or when a chronic bone issue becomes apparent, one can suffer from lower back ache. Arthritis is yet another way that lower back pain can ensue, as the pain and aches in the body move to the area that supports them, which may or may not be the lower back area.

After knowing what the causes of lower back ache are, you can decide the type of treatment that you would like to try; small causes of lower back ache simply require small exercises and pain killers to attack, while others require a trip to a chiropractor. A trip to a chiropractic specialist may be difficult for some, so it is important to have a solid decision about what you would like to do to help your lower back aches and pains.
