New Device Alleviates Back Pain

A simple new device that is available in your chiropractor’s office may be the solution to persistent back pain. The small machine delivers a small electric pulse to ease discomfort and replicate healthy nerve impulses.

It is rolled over the back, and it sticks to areas with low electrical resistance, so that it can boost these areas up. It has been proven to work best on injuries such as herniated disks, pinched nerves, stenosis, sprains and strain. It has not been shown to cure tissue damage.

Small Muscle May Hold Key to Understanding Back Pain

Researchers have found evidence to support a theory that a small muscle that runs along the spinal column may play a key role in back pain. The multifidus muscle acts as “scaffolding” for the back, and research has shown that it may be the strongest muscle in the back.

Tips for Alleviating Back Pain

People try thousands of at-home remedies to cure back pain. Drugs, salves and strange devices cost a lot of money and don’t often work. Most people don’t realize that the cure to a majority of back pain symptoms is quite simple, cheap and easy.

For instance, instead of lying in bed when your back is bothering you, you should get up and attempt some physical activity. Be careful not to overexert yourself, but a little bit of exercise goes a long way. This can help keep your back muscles warm and loose.

Review of Injections for Back Pain Shows Negative Results

If you have tried nearly everything to cure your back pain and have heard about miracle injections that can make your pain disappear, do not get too excited. A recent Dutch study has shown that the medication used in most of these injections is not of a good quality, and therefore, they do not typically work. Only six of eighteen random trials showed any clinical importance. The researchers concluded that there was insufficient evidence to show that the injections did actually work with the majority of patients.

Surgery May Not Cure Back Pain

Many people who suffer from back pain every day just get fed up with the aches and the inability to move around. That is why thousands turn to surgical procedures every year. Surgeons may be able to tell you about “miracle cures” or the “latest technology,” but the truth is that after thousands of dollars and weeks of recovery from a painful operation, many people continue to feel the sharp pain in their backs.

Improper Posture Could be Causing Your Back Pain

Researchers have shown that the number one culprit for persistent back pain is improper posture. All too often, people slouch in their office chairs or school desks and come home to ice their backs for shooting or dull pains. Sitting properly and also using appropriate support can work wonders for your back.

When sitting in a chair, your shoulders should be pulled straight back and both of your feet should be flat on the floor. You may wish to place a pillow or a rolled-up sweater behind your lower back, or your lumbar region. This will help you to stay straight.

Horseback Riding Eases Back Pain

A recent Swedish study shows that an unlikely activity can greatly decrease back pain- horseback riding. 24 patients who suffered from back pain participated in a program, where they rode horses for a given amount of time each day. Each participant showed a marked improvement in the amount of back pain that they felt. They also saw a decrease in their other various medical problems.
